Welcome to the web site of the International Society of Coating Science and Technology (ISCST). The ISCST is a technical society for professional personnel who are active in all aspects of coating technology. The society was formed by an international group of academic and industrial engineers to encourage technology transfer, professional development, and networking among coating scientists. Coating is an important growing technology, and the organizers believe that the global coating technical community would benefit by having its own society.
The ISCST sponsors the biannual International Coating Science and Technology Symposium, which provides a forum for presenting advances in the mechanisms and technology needed for the preparation, application, solidification, and microstructuring of coated films. The last Symposium was in September, 2006. Further details about this Symposium and other previous symposia can be found at this Web site. The next ISCST Symposium will be held in September 2008 in Marina del Rey, CA, along with a series of continuing education courses.
The ISCST also sponsors the Tallmadge Award for outstanding contributions to coating technology and the Scriven Young Investigator Award. The ISCST collaborates with the coating communities in Europe and Japan.
We also anticipate expanding our activities in the coming years and would welcome your thoughts on activities for ISCST. I can be contacted at bghiggins@ucdavis.edu

The Purpose and Goals of ISCST
The International Society of Coating Science and Technology (ISCST) is a technical society, which was formed in December of 1996 by an international group of academic and industrial engineers who are active in the many aspects of coating technology. This technology is growing in importance and it was believed that the global coating technical community would benefit by having its own society.
The specific purposes of ISCST are to:
- Provide forums for presenting advances in the mechanisms and technologies used in the preparation, application, solidification, and microstructuring of coated films.
- Encourage technology transfer, professional development, and networking of scientists who are engaged in the coating process sciences.
- Provide continuing educational programs in coating process science and technology.
- Provide opportunities for technology leveraging among the many diverse industries that utilize coating.
